Heinz Hoes

My name is Heinz Hoes, born in Friesland/Germany.

I attended the academy of art (Hochshule der Kuentse) in Berlin for contemporary painting. Since 1980 I have been living in Scotland. There I began a long study and working period of 21 years in Tibetan Thangka painting with the Tibetan master artist Sherab Palden Beru at the Tibetan Buddhist Centre and Monastery - Kagyu Samye Ling, at Eskdalemuir in the Scottish Borders.

During this time we accomplished many fine paintings for the temple at Samye Ling and also for export abroad. Having been given permission I also started doing my own paintings in commissions. Since 2001 I have been living further up north in Morayshire.
